The University of Auckland is building a 13-storey teaching and performing arts building on its City Campus, facing Wynyard Street. It will be the new home of the Faculty of Law, which is leaving its leased buildings around Eden Crescent and Waterloo Quadrant, and will also hold space for Arts and Education. The building includes teaching rooms, a moot court, study spaces, offices, a cafe and a multi-purpose performing arts venue with retractable seating, replacing the Maidment Theatre demolished in 2016. An 1850s villa on the site was moved to Muriwai in August 2025 before work began. The building is targeting a 6 Green Star rating and is due to be finished in 2029.
