Te Waihorotiu is the City Rail Link's midtown station, under Albert Street between Victoria Street and Wellesley Street. It is expected to become the busiest train station in New Zealand. The name refers to the Waihorotiu Stream, which now runs under Queen Street, and was gifted by mana whenua. The station is 15 m deep and 300 m long, with a single island platform between the two tracks. There are three entrances, two on Victoria Street West and one on Wellesley Street, and seven skylights above represent the Matariki cluster. Construction began in July 2020. The tunnel boring machine finished its final drive here in September 2022, and the station opened on 13 September 2026.
