Old Choral Hall is a Category 1 heritage building on Symonds Street. It has had a full restoration and seismic upgrade meant to give it about another 50 years of use, with steel bracing hidden inside the rebuilt portico columns, plus a new lift, sprinklers, air conditioning and building services. Inside, mezzanine floors were removed to return the front foyer to double height, a hidden skylight was brought back into use and the historic well was glassed over as a feature. The building has about 4,000 m² of floor space including two 100-seat lecture theatres. Work began in 2022 and it reopened in December 2025.
