Faradays is a new department store in the Milne & Choyce building on Queen Street, a heritage-listed building that was once home to one of New Zealand's earliest department stores. It opened in September 2026, a year after Smith & Caughey's closed its Queen Street store. The store covers 3,000 m² over three levels. The ground floor alone is 1,200 m², with two entrances from Queen Street, and the refit sets new work against the building's original fabric. Fashion, beauty, lifestyle goods and homewares fill the floors, with a restaurant on the first floor and concierge services for shoppers. The project cost $30 million.
