Britomart Central is a planned nine-level office building beside Takutai Square. It will replace The Pavilions, the low temporary buildings that have stood between the square and Waitematā Station Plaza since 2012. The design has brick-clad lower floors that open onto both public spaces, with office floors above looking out over the harbour. In all there will be about 20,000 m² of offices, shops and hospitality. Two lift cores let each floor be split between tenants. The building targets 6 Green Star and WELL Platinum ratings. Preparatory works have begun, and completion is targeted for early 2029.
